After a 15-year career working in rural communities with the various innovation, businesses, and economic development organizations, Andrew founded Mashup Lab in 2014. Shortly following the launch of Mashup Lab Andrew became the co-founder of Awesome South Shore a community-backed micro-fund that gives away $1000 a month – cash, no strings attached – to people with innovative ideas to do something awesome in their community.
Identifing a gap in resources and a need for support in his community, Andrew has since gone on to launch a community of 3 co-working spaces for freelancer, entrepreneurs and independents in the south shore under the brand WorkEvolved
To date Andrew has worked with nearly 3000 aspiring entrepreneurs throughout rural North America, supporting them along the full spectrum of their entrepreneurial journey; from solo-preneurs, to 500+ person operations, to innovative high-growth tech start-ups. Andrew has been invited to speak at numerous events and conferences around the entrepreneurial start up space including Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation Annual Conference, How We Thrive Conference and the Georgetown Conference.
Andrew holds an MBA from Saint Mary’s University, concentration Entrepreneurship and Management Consulting and a BBA from Acadia University with concentration in Marketing and Finance. Most recently he was selected into the Wallace McCain Institute’s Entrepreneurial Leaders Program as one the Top 30 high-growth potential entrepreneurs in Atlantic Canada in 2019.
Andrew is from a small rural community in Newfoundland, married a girl from a small rural community in Nova Scotia that they now call home with their two boys.
